Finding the Credit Card Verification Number
The verification number is an added protection feature provided by credit card providers. It is needed by merchant account service providers to process credit card transactions. The exact location of the verification number varies depending on the credit card type.
Visa, MasterCard, and Discover: The verification number is the final three-digit number on the back of the card.
American Express: The verification number is the four-digit number that appears on the front of the card above the card number.
