Print
7-Inch Checks
How Do I...
Some forms require a custom paper size with continuous feed. Laser printers
have limited paper sizes available to use. For example, if you are printing
7-inch disbursement checks on a dot matrix printer and select the OCR AP (or
Payroll) Preprint Continuous form, the first check may not print correctly, causing
alignment problems for the remaining checks. The reason for this is that
the custom 7-inch paper size has not been modified from the 8.5-inch x
11-inch standard.
If you are having trouble printing 7-inch checks, follow this procedure.
It works for all custom-paper-size forms, including multi-purpose checks
in accounts payable and payroll.
-
From the Select
a Report or Form window, select the form (for example, OCR AP Preprinted
Continuous), then the Customize
button located below the sample image on the window.
Sage 50 displays the form in the Forms
Design window.
- From the Forms
Design toolbar, select the Print button and then Setup
. Next, select the Printer
button at the bottom of the window.
- Select a dot matrix printer that allows for custom
paper sizes (for example, Epson LQ-850).
- Select the Properties
button.
- In the Paper Size list,
select Custom Paper Size. You may need to select another option on the Properties dialog such as the Advanced button to see the Paper Size list.
- Enter 8.5
in the Paper Width field and 7.0
in the Paper Length field. (You
may have to adjust for the unit; for example, enter 612 and 504, respectively,
if the unit is points.)
I do not see the option to select Custom Paper Size.
- In Windows, go to Start>Control Panel.
- Select the area that allows you to view the installed printers (for example, Printers and Faxes or Printers and other hardware).
- On the window showing the installed printers, select File, Server Properties.
- On the Forms tab, select the Create a new form checkbox.
- Type the name that you want to use for the custom format.
- Enter the desired height and width for the form.
- Click OK..
-
Select OK until you return
to the Forms Design window.
You may notice that the print area has also changed.
-
In the Forms Design
window, select the Save button
and save the form with a different name (for example, AP 7-inch Checks).
Select OK, then Close
to return to the Select a Report or Form window.
Each time you print this custom form, the system will always print
the correct paper size and align properly.
- To print checks using your new form, highlight
your new form's name and select the Preview and Print
button. Make your filter selections and then select Print/Email. Select OK to print the forms.
