After you back up your company in the Data Conversion wizard, click Next to start the actual conversion process.
The conversion process should move quickly, depending on the size of your company, the amount of memory in your computer, and the prior release that the program is converting. If you are converting a large amount of data or converting data from an old release, the conversion process may take quite a while to complete. For example, if you are converting a 5 MB company, the conversion process may take between 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the type of data entered.
In most cases, we recommend that you start the conversion before lunch or at the end of your business day, making sure you leave the computer running.
Warning! Do not interrupt the conversion or close the Data Conversion wizard during a conversion process! If you do, you may damage your company data. If you run into errors, refer to the data conversion troubleshooting tips.
Complete the data conversion procedure for each company you created in a previous version.
Note: If multiple users have access to your company (Sage 50 Premium Accounting and higher), all users will have access to the company in the new format. Though each user must install the Sage 50 upgrade or product update, the company data is converted only one time.
