Set Up a New Record

How Do I...

In Sage 50, you can create a new record in any or each of the following ways:

In addition, if you are entering a transaction that involves an employee, general ledger account, job, or inventory item ID, you can quickly set up a new record ID by following these steps:

  1. In a transaction window, go to the ID field, and enter the new record ID you want to create.
  2. The field turns dark blue and flashes three time to indicate that the record does not currently exist in the database.

  3. Continue entering transaction information; when finished, select Save.
  4. The "Invalid ID" message appears.

  5. Select the Set Up button.
  6. The appropriate maintenance window appears. For example, if you entered the ID of an employee who is not in the database, the Maintain Employees/Sales Reps window appears.

  7. Enter all pertinent information for the record you're setting up. If you need assistance, select the Help button in the toolbar at the top of the window.
  8. When finished, select Save to save the record, and close the maintenance window.

Sage 50 saves the record. The original transaction window you were working in returns.

  9. Select Save again to record the transaction.
