SmartPostingis a posting option which improves performance by allowing you to save transactions without waiting for them to post. The SmartPosting service will automatically post transactions for you.
In Sage 50, go to Maintain>Company Information. Select to use the SmartPosting posting method.
You can see the status of the SmartPosting service on the Navigation Bar on the Sage 50 Main Window. You will see an Activate SmartPosting link if you have not chosen to use SmartPosting.
When you use real-time posting, each transaction is posted as it is entered and saved.
When you use batch posting, transactions are saved and then posted as a group in a separate step. You will actively choose to post transactions by going to Tasks>System>Post.
When you use SmartPosting, transactions are saved and then posted by the SmartPosting service. The service cycles through your database and posts transactions regularly. You do not need to actively post transactions. This is done for you by the service so it will appear that you are in real-time.
Using SmartPosting will improve performance by allowing you to save transactions without waiting for them to post. This is especially beneficial in a network environment because you can use a separate computer to post transactions.
The posting service is installed on the computer where your data is stored. The service continuously cycles through the database looking for transactions to post. Sage 50 will appear to be operating using real-time posting meaning that the transactions will be posted automatically. However, if there is a problem with SmartPosting, you will receive an error message to help you correct the problem and Sage 50 will switch to operating in batch posting mode until the problem is resolved.
Yes, you can choose to use a different posting method at any time. Simply go to Maintain>Company Information and choose a different method. At that time, SmartPosting will stop using the SmartPosting service and use the new posting method that you have chosen.
When you change from SmartPosting to a different posting method, Sage 50 will stop using the SmartPosting service and use the new posting method that you have chosen.
When you stop SmartPosting, the SmartPosting service stops posting transactions. The posting method is still set to SmartPosting, although the company will operate in batch posting mode until SmartPosting is restarted.
Go to File>SmartPosting Manager. On the SmartPosting Manager screen, click the Stop SmartPosting button. The status will change to Stopped on the SmartPosting Manager screen.
You can also view the status of SmartPosting on the Navigation Bar on the Sage 50 Main Window.
Go to File>SmartPosting Manager. On the SmartPosting Manager screen, click the Start SmartPosting button. The status will change to Running... on the SmartPosting Manager screen.
You can also view the status of SmartPosting on the Navigation Bar on the Sage 50 Main Window.

Yes. Go to Tasks>System>Post to manually post transactions.
