How to Turn Off the Pervasive Database Engine

If you have installed a version of the product after release 2006, you installed the Pervasive database engine along with the product. Sage 50 uses this engine to handle your company data. However, if you retained an older version of the product (Release 2006 or earlier), you must turn off this engine prior to starting that older version of the product. If you do not shut down the Pervasive engine before you start your older application, you will see a message letting you know that a newer version of Pervasive has been detected.

To shut down the Pervasive engine, right click on the Pervasive database engine icon ()in the Windows System Tray (lower left corner of your screen) and select "Stop engines and exit."

If you do not have a Pervasive database engine icon in the Windows System Tray, you must shut down the Pervasive engine through Control Panel. Open Administrative Tools in Control Panel, then open Services. Scroll down the list of Services until you find the Pervasive.SQL Workgroup Engine. Right-click the Pervasive.SQL Workgroup Engine and select Stop.
