Why aren't my automatic backups being created?
There are various reasons automatic backup may not have been able to create a backup. There are two parts to creating an automatic backup and therefore, the problem could rely in either of these areas. The backup is configured on the Sage 50 Automatic Backup screen and then it is scheduled using Microsoft Scheduler.
- In Microsoft Scheduler, you have scheduled the backup at the same time that another task has been scheduled. If this is the case, just change the time of one of the tasks.
- You have moved the Sage 50 company to a new location on the hard-drive or to a different computer. Make sure the company location is correct in both the Sage 50 Automatic Backup configuration and in Microsoft Scheduler.
- The Windows user entered for the backup in Microsoft Scheduler no longer exists or has changed their password. If this is the case, you need to either change the user or update the password information in Microsoft Scheduler for this task.
- The Windows user entered for the backup in Microsoft Scheduler no longer has access to the company data location. If this is the case, you need to either change the user or change the permissions for this user. Please see your Administrator or Windows help for more information about security permissions.
- The Windows user entered for the backup in Microsoft Scheduler does not have security permission for the backup to run. In order for the automatic backup to run properly, the Windows user entered for the backup must have access to Log on as a batch job. This is because Microsoft Scheduler will log the user in as a batch user when trying to run scheduled tasks such as the automatic backup. This is the way Microsoft Scheduler works and has nothing to do with Sage 50. Please see your Administrator or Windows help for more information. Tell me more. This Windows user setting is found at Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Local Security Policy>Local Policies>User Rights Assignment>Log on as a batch job.
- The Sage 50 user entered on the Sage 50 Automatic Backup configuration screen no longer exists or has changed their password. If this is the case, you need to either change the user or update the password information on the Sage 50 Automatic Backup configuration screen.
- The Sage 50 user entered on the Sage 50 Automatic Backup configuration screen no longer has access to backup the company. If this is the case, you need to either change the user or change the Sage 50 security access for this user so they continue to have access to backup the company.
- Sage 50 users are logged into the company at the time the backup is scheduled to run. The backup can't run if other users are logged into the company. Make sure to schedule the backup when users shouldn't be accessing the company. Also make sure all users are aware of when the backup will be run so they are not accessing the company or running processes in Sage 50 at that time.
